Marc Ecko 2010 Rx Collection: No, not drugs you big dummy.

I came across Marc Ecko’s posting via his blog, a new collection he’s been working on. Fresh.
In the mid to late 90’s (Gosh. What happened to the time?!) is when I encountered Marc Ecko. I think back then it was “echo” correct me if I am wrong. Remember that? Remember Zumiez and back then…they let you write on their counters? I remember because my right hand man in the graff game wrote echo, so he had loads of Echo clothing. One of the most memorable pieces was a bright, yellow shoe he came out with + yellow jacket with the rhino on it. I think my boy and I were one of the first ones to rock Echo/Ecko at our school. I wish I still fit/kept my old clothing.
The Rx Collection is very different from all other Marc Ecko ventures, as for one, the RX collection is entirely Italian made. How will that push the price? I don’t know. But it’ll probably deliver some of the best quality though. My guess it will be the best bang for your buck. I think this is the next step up from cut n sew. It appeals to me very much because the pieces can be for young professionals, still crafted well and still maintains a professional, business look…with a dash of street inspired style. Just a dash.

Details. Love it. I really like this bag, like, a lot. I usually cringe when clothing companies try to venture out into accessories. But I think Marc’s tastes and evolution has really developed with his cut n sew line. Now I don’t know if Marc Ecko enterprises ventures with fashion forecasters or have hired some fashionably conscious, omnipresent being to dictate the style…but it works. I must re-iterate this so much because it works so well.
It wasn’t too long ago I started my own clothing company with partner Glenn Pajarito, who is now a senior designer at DC Shoes; the street wear game was saturated. We did well actually for running it out the house, me working FT in another city and full time at UCSD. I didn’t sleep much. But I loved what I did. Since we axed the business due to time constraints and my schooling priorities, I kind of slipped away from street wear. I was needing, wanting, yearning for something a bit more. And this is it. Now it’s going to take all my money. Thanks Marc. Thanks a lot.

Moving along to the more sophisticated pieces, we have your outer wear to your suits. Damn. When I came across these pieces, I was thoroughly impressed. In fact, it was the suit and this labcoat (also has a matching blazer and vest) that sold me, I had to blog about it. I would imagine the quality of the pieces, the actual tactile feel of them has to be awesome. I’ve never owned an Italian lab coat. Ha, yeah that’s right. I don’t have an Italian lab coat. I do have Italian sausage in the fridge.

And last, we come to some select tops I liked. There were many but me gusta these mucho! First, the leather jacket! Quite the jacket I must say. This jacket will be mine as soon as I make an excuse that I need a leather jacket in San Diego. And look closely…closer young grass hoppa. Yes…perforated leather. The top below the jacket is so simple and clean, the colors are just right, not too muted and not too loud. And who doesn’t like skulls?
I wish I could tell you folks more about the collection, but that’s all I know. You can read more about it here, here and here. It is scheduled for Spring 2010. I am actually excited for it. I don’t even recall the last time I’ve used the interweb so much to find out more about pieces of clothing. Maybe if someone that works there…give me some pictures!
Speaking of working there, It was a shame when I went on the Marc Ecko Enterprises site, and Careerbuilder, and Indeed, and Monster, and Yahoo, etc…to find a job or internship for Marc Ecko Enterprises…I couldn’t find any. Bummer. Me in NY is a dream. Me in NY with a company, a culture and pieces like these would almost be surreal. If anyone knows any connects or opportunities for Marc Ecko Ent. por favor…let me know!
